All you need sometimes is a crazy idea. Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, had no thought that her crazy little idea would be the start of a successful business. In 1998, before a night out when Sarah couldn’t find the right undergarments for her white trousers. Well, you guessed it, she took matters into her own hands to do something herself and cut the feet off her control top pantyhose, which led to the beginning of her journey.

Spanx has evolved into a multi-national corporation that offers a wide range of products, including bras, underwear, leggings, activewear, and more. The focus of the company is providing comfort and helping its customer's outfits look flawless with minimal effort.
Sara Blakely’s success with Spanx is a result of her hard work and dedication. In March 2012, she was named the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire by Forbes magazine, and she was also named No.1 on the Times’s 100 Most Influential People list.

Despite the initial success of her idea, it took a lot of effort to keep the business going. Like a fire, a spark may start the flames, but it needs other components like oxygen to keep burning. Similarly, starting a business and making it successful requires a lot of hard work and execution. Now, 20 years later, Spanx is a well-established brand found in over 50 countries. Blakely’s vision and the effort she put into making her crazy idea a reality is an inspiration. Spanx has helped women around the world feel more confident and comfortable in their clothing, and it’s a business that continues to grow and evolve. It is just never too late to turn your crazy idea into something great.

Here are 10 start-up tips from business owners of Reddit.com.

1. Bookkeeping or basic accounting services. To see where the money comes and goes and learn the basic cash flow in the business.

2. Never tell a customer no – let them tell you no, it just means when someone asks you something ridiculous. Rather than saying no outright just set the right terms or price for you to say yes. The customer gets to decide if they want to accept your offer, and the outcome is acceptable to you either way.

3. Think less do more

4. Make sure if you have a partner they are equally invested. It doesn’t have to be financial, but as much as they care equally about success.

5. Emotions should not compromise decisions

6. Have something people want not what you want!

7. Grow your marketing and social platforms by making reels on TikTok and short videos about your business and products.

8. Do your research on companies and retailers selling something like what you want to start up.

9. Be open to feedback from your customers and try to take it and do something with it rather than letting it bother you.

10. Put time in your photos, it makes a difference between people ignoring your listings and clicking on them, and those clicks can increase your conversion rate.
